Técnicas tradicionais

Stop motion is an animation technique where individually frames are photographed. The camera is repeatedly stopped and started, one frame at a time. While the camera was stopped an animator would adjust the figure or object the camera was pointing at, moving them in increments. Eventually, when all the frames are played in sequence it shows the impression of movement.

Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which the animator draws and traces, frame by frame, over film footage. It can be thought of as "painting on movies" efficiently. From a sequence of usually photographed action image frames you can create an animation that mimics live action video. Nowadays, applications software can be used to develop this technique.

A cel is a transparent sheet used as a medium for drawing and painting frames for traditional animation. Cels can be laid over other cels and then photographed. You can draw a character on cels and laid it over a static background. Cel animation usually requires lots of time and teamwork organization.
